Featured Update on table I posted a while back.

I can never find my old posts, so I’m updating in a new one. I got this table really cheap locally. Sold it for a good profit locally. Buyer refurbs old furniture. He sent me pics of what it looks like today. I don’t like the keyhole covers but the rest looks pretty great!!!

They probably fit better I just don’t like the finish on them. They look a little to new and cheapy to me. I’d like a more classic brass look. Just being picky though.

 

No, no. I'm with you on this. Nothing wrong with the new ones, but I liked the old ones better. Have to say the glass pulls ruin it for me, though.

Those glass knobs have been on there for a long, long time. I'd have left them too unless you could get appropriate drop-shaped pulls .

 

Not one person other than you voted for the glass. Most hate it actually. I get it but I actually like them on this piece. I’ve been collecting furniture hardware when it comes cheap and easy. Maybe I’ll see if I have some appropriate stuff for him. I’ve got a good sized box full of antique brass stuff.

 

Oh well. If you have some period stuff handy, might as well.

 

Has a Federal-era (1790-1830) chest that has Sandwich glass pulls/knobs.
The previous owner had replaced them with white porcelain pulls but inside the chest was a baggie with the glass pulls and this note
"These are the original sandwich glass knobs for this chest"
Nice the previous owner thought to do that, glass pulls were popular here in the Empire and early Victorian period.

 

Wonderful story. Instead of trashing the knobs he didn't like, he saved them for the next owner.
