I found this at an estate sale today, $3.00.
    Marked "L.M. & Co."
I can't find anything on this manufacturer, but it's really nice!

That's quite pretty. Fits you perfectly. And suits you. Bit of a splurge though. ;)

Here's a Levin, Meyer that began business in Philadelphia in 1929.

    Thanks for finding that!
Could it be the same company? I was hoping the bracelet was older.

I would have thought it older too.

There is nothing floating around the internet with that mark that isn't a Victorian-appearing bracelet which could lead one to conclude...

    Yes, my conclusion, also.
Maybe the Levin and Meyer jewelry store is not the L. M. & Co. manufacturer.

Can I just throw in here that the style got copied massively in the UK in the 60s.

    I have a 1960s reproduction.
It looks nice, but the cheap construction gives it away as modern. This one says "Vargas" inside

    And compared to today's bracelet

This is the inside of the hinge, all verdigris, I did not clean it

Is the font actually period?A good engraver can copy most any font from the last 500+ years. http://www.pewterbank.com/ENGRAVING_STYLES...4.pdf

Yes, of course. And we don't know. But would be a coincidence if a number of individuals decided to buy an inexpensive (gold-filled, 10k) reproduction bracelet and have it monogramed in an old fashioned font.

I've a couple of 1950s rolled gold ones, if I can unearth them.
