In the 1980s, maybe late 1970s, I had a very similar dancing jester/music box. They were popular gifts. Don't know if yours is from the same time. Suspect the label is the music it is supposed to play.
aaah, das Heideröslein from Master Goethe and bamboozled by Schubert. the key gives the musicbox away as a cheap Japanese Sankyo one.

indeed. not comparable to Reuge, Thonet and others. who had the pleasure of listening to both hears the difference immediately if he isn't completely deaf. if you have the chance of visiting the Jura region, then visit one of the museums. Seewen, St.Croix etc. but for simple toys like here they do their job.
