    According to someone besides myself,
Tests for Genuine Bakelite Look-alike materials such as modern hard plastics, will not leave any color on the swab or will leave a smear the same the color as the plastic (blue plastic will leave a blue smear, etc.)

I can't imagine what the white powder you're using is. A real test is to use something that reacts with the formaldehyde to produce a yellow. Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride in Formula 409 or ammonium oleate in Simichrome.

This photograph is a side by side of test of two different colored Bakelite bracelets using Simichrome. Both test as the same color.

Baking soda, works just fine. The photo is for different type of green, like my other bangle.

I'm confused. What do you mean by a different type of green?

It looks like the 3rd bangle has some kid of colored finish, paint, stain or varnish. The baking soda removed it. If it were Bakelite underneath I would think you would have gotten some yellow on the swab. Did you test the same area twice?
