This is for sale, locally to me. Missing top. I just wanted opinions, is it likely Sterling? Of course I realize, folks would be best guessing.
    It is over green glass.
    These are the only photos.
    size / dimensions: 2.5" x 2.5" x 4"
    Thank you for looking. :)

I would think silver as it does say that on the rim opposite CHINA.

Most of these are sterling although I have seen a couple in silverplate. A lot were made in Hong Kong, but Shanghai ones show up mow and again.

    That’s why I wanted opinions. :)
I also started to wonder if it might not be glass, and something illegal to sell. I can’t see it very well.

Says Silver on the bottom across from "China"
I would think turn of the century to 1930s Chinese Export perfume bottle.

I've never seen a bottle made of horn much less one with with silver overlay. I do appreciate that you do not have it in hand, but I don't think you need to worry.

If the price is right, buy! And this is an order!
Maybe you can get more off if you fuss about the missing stopper.

Yes, it is Chinese Export Silver, probably the early years of the 20th century. The silver fineness may not be sterling, Chinese used ca .800- ca .950. This could be towards the lower end, but still genuine Chinese Export Silver.

Horn is used for bottles, but I wouldn't expect it in an early 20th c. export bottle. They used it for snuff bottles, cow and buffalo horn, nothing illegal.
