I'd love your thoughts on this. Is this a silver mark? Sorry, this is the only picture I have at this time.

It's tough to see enough detail on the characters to tell whether that's really a silver mark or not. What is the item?

Okay - if you say so. Is what you've shown a pendant?

The only thought I have is that I've never seen anyone bold enough to claim 100% precious metal. The best refineries in the world usually will limit themselves to .9999. Granted that's pretty damn close but I've never seen anyone, legit or not claim 100%. Typically .999 but sometimes .9999 on coins. Additionally I've only ever seen one piece of silver jewelry made from .999. Not that there isn't more I just only have one piece that is "pure" silver". Outside of that .950 is the highest I've seen on silver jewelry. That would make me wonder if it referred to the PM content.

There are a number of countries which use 1000 as pure silver on a variety of objects. https://www.antiquers.com/threads/siver-bracelet-marked-1000-where-is-it-from.23731/

Objects made of "pure silver" PMC are also permitted the 1000 mark in Japan. https://www.925-1000.com/a_Standards.html

It's part of a wide mesh choker-style necklace. But now that I've taken a closer look, I'm not certain if it was originally a choker.
I decided to buy it. I'll test it and get back with the results.
