B95FE341-8A07-42D0-94C8-29D78C5F1806.jpeg I picked up some good silver pieces recently that have family crests on them. Most from the early to mid 1800’s. Not sure how I can go about tracing them to the family? Is there a good website for this? First one is a fish server from London, 1847. Very interesting dragon/griffin like creature with a crown. I would love to be able to place them with a name. Any advice appreciated. Of course I won’t complain if someone just tells me either but I do have a few more I need to figure out so if there is a good tool I would like to know.

You can also use CTRL-F to search the document for keywords, like gryphon or crown.

Awesome! CTRL-F didn’t work but I played around and Command-F did. Thanks again! Late now but I’ll be playing around with this tomorrow!

I have Fairbairn's also and could check it later if searching the online version is unsuccessful or if blooey hasn't checked already. I rarely use it so it might be a challenge for me too:)

Been months since I've returned, unfortunately. :( Just no luck here. I miss going to flea markets so much. All I find where I live now is junk, and all the decent finds I've posted have been from Ebay.

Thanks I’ll be looking later. Any search terms anyone sees other than dragon, griffin, and crown? I’m not familiar with how a lot of this stuff is described.

That's a pelican in her piety (vuined) on a coronet...

    You’re awesome!

Wow, I kept thinking it was a bird and then the neck kept me thinking it wasn’t. I probably should have dug the piece out rather than just referencing my low quality image! Even cooler than discovering its the Stackpole crest is discovering the pelican in her piety. What a cool story however untrue it is! I never would have found it without knowing it was a “pelican in her piety”!!!
