I've been researching this wine ? glass and have found references linking the pattern to Maximilian of Mexico. What I'm trying to figure out is if that's the pattern name (or what the pattern name is), or how it relates to Maximilian, and when this was made. Any help appreciated! Here's a link to one of the references though there are others out there with the same info.

This is supposedly the connection. It would require verification.

    • The Origin: The renowned Lobmeyr drinking service No. 54 was designed in 1855 and proudly presented at the 1862 London World's Fair.
    • The Royal Patron: Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian, before his tragic stint as the Emperor of Mexico, was an avid patron of the arts. He commissioned this distinguished service along with matching, incredibly ornate "Morning Glory" chandeliers.

Thanks, Deborah! There's another set on that website that shows the imperial set - I don't see a double headed eagle there, either.

I wish I knew if these were reproduced at some point. My stem was part of a large lot of late 1700s to mid 1800s stemware, so I'm thinking mine may be old.

Well, the pattern name can't be contemporary with Maximillian's reign in México because the glass was introduced in 1862 and he wasn't asked to become emperor until 1863.

"Antique Lobmeyr Port/Sherry Glasses Coupe Service No.54 A PAIR"
"Stunning pair of antique Lobmeyr crystal sherry? Port? Glasses from the Drinking Service No. 54.
Beautifully hand engraved with a renaissance style pattern of scrolling leaves, flowers and birds and with tiny circular cut detailing.
This pattern was based upon French and English patterns of around 1855 and was presented by Lobmeyr at Londons World Fair in 1862.
Although not rare exactly, this pattern is scarce with very few commercially available."

    And another set on Dorotheum

    Here https://live.jeffreysevans.com/onli...sance-glass-eleven-piece-drinking-set-7405848
they call it 'LOBMEYR ENGRAVED AND CUT NO. 54 "RENAISSANCE" GLASS'
They also mention 'Literature: Parallels Noever (ed.) - J. & L. Lobmeyr: Zwischen Tradition und Innovation, p. 53, top; ibid, p. 54, figs. 1a-1d.' (https://www.amazon.com/Lobmeyr-Inno...ction-2006-07-28/dp/B01K0PTNMU?language=en_US). I assume such a book will mention pattern names. So, as the site doesn't mention a pattern name, could it be that there isn't a specific pattern name for this set?

Thanks, Marote! I think you're correct, no specific name for the pattern, just a cut number.

A friend of mine sold that maker of glasses many years ago. Her neighbor was moving and offered them to her for free. She didn't research them before listing them but was asking somewhere in the $200 range and someone bought them within moments on ebay. Needless to say, she was thrilled.
