Saw two pieces of Broyhill Brasilia in one of my local thrifts last week. It's a very small, low key and to all appearances genuine charity.
The two pieces were on the sales floor at $2000 each-went in yesterday and they both had SOLD signs on them.It was their special anniversary sale and all furniture was 50% Off-some MCM fans had come in bright and early and scooped 'em up ! @verybrad

I saw the bookcase earlier this year in a local antique store. The owner is forever complaining that he can't sell furniture. the book/display case sold in about a week.

Those are both really nice pieces. I would love to switch out my 80s headboard for that one, but $2K is a little rich for me.

Yep, even on the frugal buying pool on Ebay- I did see a few pieces that sold for 2K ea (plus shipping !!!), so I guess it's MCM blue chip stuff ?
Too rich for me too. There are handmade Scandinavian pieces (late 40's) that'd break my heart not to bring home, but a lot of the things I look at now I automatically think-'Are the kids going to chuck this when we're gone ?'.

    The name Broyhill doesn't hurt.

The first time I see those Oscar Niemeyer arches on furniture.
My father worked for Philips Lighting, who were commissioned with the light design of Brasilia. He visited Brasilia in the 60s, when many of the buildings were still being built. He photographed every building, including the cathedral that wasn't completely finished at the time. I remember seeing those photos as a child, wonderful.:)

For those of us outside the US who don't know Broyhill:

This is a good line but, even at half price, that is expensive.... Particularly for just a headboard. Maybe not so bad on the dresser. The last piece I had was a china cabinet. No interest locally but sold to a Chicago dealer for $350.00 who drove down for it. I am sure he was going to double his money on it. I was happy, as I only paid $50 for it.

Yes AJ-I recall seeing pictures of Brasilia when it was being built- amazing place.
Brad-I was surprised the pieces went for that,but- the location's only 10 miles or so from downtown Portland, which is still a pretty MCM 'Hipster' city.
I wasn't surprised that the store initially priced them at 2K ea-ya know, another Google Lens & Ebay (literal) no brainer.
I'd love to find more buyers like this, and they sold in a snap ?

@verybrad I guess if you're making even moderate Tech money, and have never been a Seller- you just figure...'I want it -I shall have it !'
Me-I hate to overspend on anything and don't ignore digital coupons. As newlyweds we spent our time in the 'poverty trenches'.

The Brasilia line has long been sought-after and always brings good money... but I had no idea that it had reached 4-figures per piece, wow!
