Can’t try to ID it if I don’t even know what I’m looking at! Any ideas? Kinda looks like a bird and maybe a double struck cross??

Large, pretty pitcher. Looks like some coming from Italy and 50A91BCF-A824-46F9-8511-45ED104C4518.jpeg 2591547B-0040-4A9A-988D-CA5BAFEDE3DD.jpeg France maybe?

Thought at first it was a dove descending on the cross, then realized 'wings' would be weird for going that direction.

Above the cross...a winged heart perhaps?

Maybe it’s not double struck, cross Lorraine?

    Winged rutabaga I think.

I think it's supposed to look exactly like that, not double struck in any way. Lorraine is a good thought. I keep finding it described as 'patriarchal' unless I specifically ask for Lorraine. Wonder if those flared ends have any meaning.

Ok. What's a "winged rutabaga"?? We've got a lot of political "ratbags" in parliament but none have wings.
Ahhh got it ...a winged turnip. Scuze my culinary ignorance.:bag::bag::bag::bag:

Yeh it doesn’t really look like a bird, it just looks more like a bird than it looks like anything else.

Oooh wasn’t familiar with a cross Lorraine! It didn’t technically look double struck just didn’t look like anything else I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the idea!

Yeh I agree on the cross Lorraine being a good lead. I didn’t think this was literally double struck. Just had that general appearance for lack of a better way of describing it at the time.

Thanks! Seems odd to me that it’s so worn. It’s in a very protected area that would be unnecessary to polish and nearly impossible to receive wear otherwise. Yet there the wear is.

I did have a look through some marks books but didn't find anything I thought was right so I'd hoped someone else might know it. I haven't tried Googling yet.

Here are photos of the most relevant marks but really only the Czech one even looks close to me and it's not very close.

Many of these marks are quite old and my impression is that this isn't a particularly old piece so hopefully there are others out there with identified marks.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Is it up inside the base? That's the only place I can figure out that would fit the description...
