18th Century French Miniature Portraits

Two miniatures believed to be mid to late 18th Century. The handwriting on the back has written Marquise of Mailly and the Dutches of Crillon in French which I assume are the subjects.
I have very little knowledge about miniatures so any information would be appreciated!

 

The backings of those from old grammar/language books is a red flag. Commonly seen on modern decorative items. The handwriting appears to be in fountain pen though which indicates a 1950ish or earlier date. I suspect the portraits are copies which should be easy to confirm when an internet search.

I should add that the clothing of the Marquise of Mailly is early 19th century. The other is 18th century.

These miniature portraits with book pages on the back first appeared in bone and ivory frames in the late 1800s.
I think yours probably date to the 1920s/30s.

I'm not good at finding old threads. There have been several about these miniature pictures.

The hands are old. I would agree with those dates.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Can anyone tell if these were hand painted or some type of print overlaid with paint? And can anyone tell based on the pictures whether the material it is on is ivory?

 

Looking up close they lokk like regular 1930s prints.

 

For everyone's information, on closer inspection it looks to be mostly hand painted, and most likely on an early plastic like celluloid not ivory as a lot of sellers purport.

These are pretty deceptive pieces as they are decent enough quality, not to mention old enough to give off the impression of being from an earlier period. Having a 200+ year old piece of laid paper glued to the back doesn't help either. They were painted on both ivory and celluloid.
Lots of famous paintings of notable people were copied.
