Featured Chinese(?) dishes

I have these two small dishes. Fairly sure they are bone china. No maker marks at all.

If anyone can help with age and provenance it would be much appreciated.

 

Probably 20th C. (but could be earlier) Chinese but hard paste porcelain rather than bone china.

 

Hi, five claws on the dragon so definitely Chinese. I've been told that the orangey look to the base rim shows it has some age, but not sure how old.

How many claws do you see?

 

I see 4

 

She clearly sees more than I do.
The five claws were only for Imperial dragons, and these dishes don't strike me as being from the Imperial household.

 

This is a 5 clawed dragon, more precisely five toes to each claw, but this is what they mean by five claws:

 

Those dragons have only four claws, unless my eyesight is getting far worse than I thought.
Also, dragons with five claws were reserved for pieces destined for the emperor(s) and the common people (anyone below the emperor) could have only depictions of dragons with four claws.
Chinese antiques dealer explained that to me a long time ago, when I was living in China. There was more to it, but memory fails me.

I was sure I saw 5 claws but looking again I can only see 4. I read somewhere that 5 was Chinese and 3 was Japanese, 4 wasn't mentioned, sorry.

 

What looks like a claw (without nail!) looks like a bit of ribbon from the pearl of wisdom it is trying to catch, there is a similar curl on the other side of the pearl.
So that one also has four, not five.
