New challenge for my learned Asian Art Experts. Bought this beautiful cloisonné teapot a few years ago, the lid spike was slightly bent but otherwise fairly good shape. Curious as to it's past. The makers mark doesn't appear to be Chinese characters. Possible valuation or comparable's you have seen? Pour a glass of wine.....Who's up for a challenge? 20210109_200532-4.png

I don’t even know if this is in the right orientation, but others WILL!! For FUTURE reference, could you please, when you post your images, (or you could go back in while there’s still time to!) and click on the VERY TOP IMAGE THAT SAYS TO “POST EVERY IMAG FULL SIZE”.....then we’re not all looking at thumbnails!! Thanks a bunch!! BTW- teapot looks LOVELY!!!! I do have a question after looking at the thumbnails blown up.....it looks like wire decoration in the spout & handle, but is all the other ‘painted’ design in the teapot itself outlined with wire?? I’m just not seeing it, or the images aren’t clear enough, or it’s my eyes!!

I think the teapot you have found and the reign mark are very similar....AMAZING. I think if I rotate the image of the mark 90 degrees clock wise ...it is similar in some respects. I tried to post images full size but it keeps restricting to less than 1 MB. I had to use an image editor to resize each 8 MB image to get them accepted...didn't see opportunity to accept full size images.

That’s because images posted here MUST be under 1 MB each!! MOST image resizers do a pretty good job of keeping quality though!!

So here is where I beg out. Others here know far more about Asian marks than I. Maybe someone will be along with more information.

Well done! You get a GOLD STAR and Yes, it would be nice to have some expertise on identifying meaning like "precious objects" and dynasty info. Hopefully someone "Tags" in.

Did anyone else happen to notice this VERY happy, quirky guy when one rotates this ‘chop’ if that’s what it’s called???? And is that customary for these marks?????:rolleyes::smuggrin: (And once you see it, you don’t UNsee it!!!:D)

The colourful style of the cloisonné on your teapot is Ming, but the pot certainly isn't Ming. I see no bubbles in the enamel, so I would date it to the 20th century, probably fairly early.
The mark looks like Qianlong to me, but that is usually an apocryphal mark, put on to honour a great period in Chinese arts.
Most Chinese marks are not of the actual period.
