Can anyone tell me anything about this vase? I believe it's hand painted & on the bottom there is no Made in China or Made in Japan - doesn't that age it to the pre 1930's or something?
Any info or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

No. Often on a paper sticker which falls off, or purchased by a tourist overseas.

Looks relatively modern. I'll look at Gotheborg.

Does look similar to some of the mid-20th century Qianlong "honorific" marks in Gotheborg. Did not find an exact match, but closest is #317 under the Qianlong heading.

I've been here before but I've never heard of Gothenburg and didn't know there was info here - but I appreciate the info VERY much!

NOT GOTHENBURG. IT'S GOTHEBORG. As Bakers said.

The characters read Made in the Qing Dinasty, Tong Zhi years. (大清同治年制)
    Rather coarse and crude.

Looks real to me. This is a very popular and collectible Antique Chinese Quin pattern with several names...Butterfly and Cabbage, Cabbage and Butterfly and just Cabbage. The light turquoise color on the bottom is right. Later copies are a stronger and darker turquoise. The mark is not a common one.

Google: Chinese cabbage butterfly and click on "Images".

You will be smiling in a minute. Congrats!

Pat Dennis, mine is almost 1/3 larger - make a difference? (mine is 9 7/8" x 7" - about the size of a Pringle can!)
