Featured Unmarked sterling silver bracelet

This bracelet test positive for sterling silver but has no markings. Anybody know who might have made it or how modern or old ?

Billy, I have 2 sterling pieces like yours that I bought with my allowance as a kid about 1948 in either AZ or NM, at a reservation. They too are unmarked. Marks were not so important then.
If selling, you will need to use Southwest Native style in your description if you can't find an exact match.

My very first thought was Fred Harvey era, but it could be slightly later. Not much later though.

Exactly, marks on old pieces are very rare. Current US legislation would have us disregard that important period of NA jewellery making.

I wrote similar things in several threads over the years, which I am sure you also contributed to, just like you contributed to the one I just quoted from.
It should be clear from all those posts that I am all for proper protection and proper legislation, better than the make-do legislation they have now.
So I see no reason for your cynicism.

I’m surprised that you guys don’t think “Fred Harvey era” is total keyword spam. IMO you can’t use it unless you know that it is a Fred Harvey piece which is obviously impossible to prove. I realize that many use that term but that doesn’t make it right.

IMO the piece will find a home by listing with some combination of “Vintage Mid Century Southwestern Sterling Silver Bezel Turquoise Bracelet Great Stamping”.

 

Sold it to my friend at swap meet, she loves it. Gave her a great deal $30

I understand but IMO that name cannot be used on a venue that prohibits keyword spam and yes, people keyword spam all day long on some venues.

 

I absolutely agree and am addressing selling it only (and understand that it’s sold) so apologies if the reference was for research only but still maintain that the term shouldn’t be used by anyone selling a mid century tourist NA piece unless they personally know it was purchased at a Fred Harvey. “Style” and “era” do not lessen that it’s blatant KWS. My own internet shopping on collectibles is pretty much limited to ebay but I know it’s against policy there although that doesn’t stop it and I understand that everyone may not know that it’s a wrong thing to do. It’s search manipulation that gives a definite advantage to some over others.

I obviously have a KWS issue and just find it to be a major turnoff that for me, reflects negatively on the seller.

 

I agree that items should only be sold as what they actually are. But this is a forum, which means discussions take place, and we ponder and cogitate as to the identity of items.
In most threads we bounce around ideas which lead to more research, which hopefully in turn lead to a conclusion. That is the nature of a forum. Of course the wrong terms and identifications get thrown into the mix sometimes, it is part of the process of research and elimination.
You can see thought processes in many threads, just to quote mine in this thread:

And about sellers using the wrong terms, some do that intentionally, but genuine mistakes are also made, without intention to deceive.
