      Well, you've made an interesting debut with this fascinating chair. Looks to be late 19th century ca. 1880, probably walnut. I don't know where you are, but the chair may very well have come from Germany. The quality of the carving is nice indeed! Love those arms as well.

      It's a shame about the crest; someone really cut down the value of the chair considerably by removing that carving. The missing piece from the front of the seat may just have been a small decoration.
