I bought this online for a specific spot in my house because I liked the colors, really cheap. I paid more for the shipping than the piece. The listing said "unmarked", so I was surprised to see a mark on the bottom. I think it might be an early Pisgah Forest piece, but it was sent from N. Calif and you don't see much of that pottery in the West. At first, I looked at early Calif Potters like Arequipa, Santa Barbara Pottery (Reed), California Faience, but no luck. Anyone know the mark? Approx 12" high, heavy and a
bit of silvery glaze over mustard brown.

    Agreed...it is marked.
But is there any discernible intelligence within?
I sure like that glaze, tho'...thanks!

I thought Asian too when I first saw it but there are so many potteries in the world.

I did wonder if it's actually a mark or just where someone scraped away a globby piece of clay. Perhaps in-hand you can tell.

I think the only piece of Pisgah Forest I have is from the 30's and is of a nearly white clay body. Browsing through my lone book on NC pottery didn't really enlighten me much so not really any help.

Nice piece but don't think Pisgah Forest. Hard saying if that is a mark. Could be Asian but I don't think one of the modern pieces coming from China.

The colors are saying Viet Nam to me but the clay isn't. So..dunno.
