Featured Vintage/Antique Wood Carved Mold

Not sure if this is a butter mold or cookie? This piece is four sided and measures approx. 17in. Lots of interesting Victorian/Gothic motif. Thank you for looking!

 

I'd say maple sugar candy mold... but fancy as all get out....

Maple sugar candy is either the food of the gods or evil incarnate...because it's too good to resist.

The OP's mold is too deep for cookies and not the sort used for butter. Sugar of some sort is a good candidate.

 

Beautiful antique mold, love the carving on the handle. A genuine oldie from a fancy household.

 

It might be the most delicious thing on the planet, if not close. When it’s fresh it just melts on your tongue. I don’t eat candy anymore but if I did this would be the way to go. It’s a real treat! We grew up getting a little portion at the local orchard when going to pick apples or cut down a tree. It is always quite expensive but a nice thing to have a few pieces of in the fall or winter.

I grew up in NH and maple sugar candy was the best ever.

 

Well the clue to the largest exporter of maple syrup is on our Canadian flag. I've never had it, but apparently, syrup poured directly on snow makes a delicious treat. Sugar maples are mostly back east, but Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island had a little local maple syrup production. Dunno if it's still going on.
