My wife wants a bureau and it would be cool to buy an old one and restore it lightly.

I only have two pictures so far, could it be late 18th/early 19th century? IMG_2371.jpeg IMG_2372.jpeg

Pics not really sufficient to evaluate. My gut says antique but whether 19th century or 20th, can't tell. Gut also tells me that I doubt this is 18th century.

I am not a furniture expert, but the latch on the top doesn't look 18th century. The keyhole outside looks wrong too. Too clean; a really old one would likely have some wear on it without a brass rim.

Im waiting for better photos... The reason for leaning older, rather than newer was the buttons, sort of mid-19th century? I would guess a 20th century piece would use brass handles?

Maybe and maybe not. Wood was always cheaper, and sometimes they preferred the look of wood over brass.

20th century based upon photos. "Old", I assume, means real antique? You should research restoration processes before any "Light restoration." Photos of front, back, sides, interior, lock, feet, etc. needed.
