Featured Antique Gold Squirrel Broach - help please

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone can help me please. My mother is going through her jewellery and found this sweet little Squirrel broach in her box of nick nacks.

I've had a look at it but cant seem to work out the age from the hallmark. The hallmark starts as (9) (.375) so I know it's 9 carat gold, but the two following marks are difficult to work out. The first is in an oval shape and looks like a ship's figurehead facing right, and the other is circular with what could possibly be a lions head. I can't get pictures of that as it's right in the curl of the tail and impossible to get the camera to focus on it.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be most grateful please.

Vintage rather than antique, I suspect. Is it identical to this one?

Thanks for that. I'd say they are the same, but the hallmarks are very different

 

No B.J.L. then which is Bohemian Jewellers Ltd.

Actually, yes it's there! Thank you. The upright of the B is there but the two curves aren't which made it look like an I. I'm grateful to you.

 

My pleasure. And, fyi, an item must be 100 years old to be considered antique. Bohemian Jewellers Ltd. wasn't formed until 1946 so your mother's brooch would more accurately be called "vintage."
