I visited Rawtenstall yesterday. Home of the last remaining temperance bar in the UK; Mr Fitzpatrick's. I didn't go in so didn't yield to the temptation of denying myself a pleasure.

I found these in one of the charity shops. They look to be in pastel and maybe some watercolour on the foliage. Signed G Bradshaw and labelled Graham Bradshaw of Matlock, Derbyshire. A nice place to visit if you are ever in NW UK.

    Yes indeed. Shouldn't be allowed.

If I search his name I don't get any results but if I do a Google lens search with his name too it shows a fair few.

Wonderful pastel work-a beautiful blend of scientific observation and skill. I had a few friends who majored in Medical Illustration in college-takes a extremely steady hand and sharp eye.
    Good find.
PS-Temperance Bar huh-why don't they just call it a Cafe' or Tea Room ? It does have a quaint sort of sound though.
PS-Love the signage over in the UK !

Aye I thought they were prints when I first saw them. Nice detail.

The font on the sign is the exception rather than the rule. They have used it to give it a 'back int' day' feel. We are quite modern you know and even have electricity in some places :jawdrop:

Yeah why call it a bar if they don't have booze?

Spot on Chin-We were in London for 3 1/2 weeks abt 6 mos ago. Beautiful city and lots of great old & new graphics.
This was just 2 minutes from our apartments front door in Kensington-mounted on the door of a tiny basement flat-
