Mid Century Style Print Painting?

Hello thanks for looking hoping to get some input, not sure if would be a print or painting, also not sure of the medium, would it be considered Abstract, it is done on some type of board, overall 24" x 30" -best regards Joe oe

 

I'm seeing mixed media and late seventies/early eighties, but that's observation, not research.

I wouldn't call it abstract, since those are clearly people.

 

A "Fat Lava " painting ?! Just throwing that out...

 

If that even exists, I imagine it would be abstract and have brightly coloured foaming paint thrown all over the top, which drooled down to the bottom.
You can tell I really like fat lava pottery, can't you.

 

I imagine such a piece would not be hung but propped against a wall, then one would try and avoid stubbing a toe on it or hope it never fell on the baby.

Sorry bogtrotten, it doesn't answer your question and is sort of a hijack, but I guess it expands on the idea of textural wall pieces.

 

I was thinking sand-painted ceiling.

 

Remember the ceilings with the coloured speckles in the spackle-y finish ?

 

uh, noooooo. And I'm really glad I don't! Sand-paint or popcorn are bad enough!

 

Thanks everyone I think I will settle on Modern Expressionist and call it a day. Actually, kinda looks like the salt and glue painting we did as kids wayyyyyyyy back when LOL
