H. Parker Painting

Trying to find info on the artist who signs painting as “H. Parker”. Not sure if the art is original, a reproduction, etc? I can only find info on Henry H. Parker with one painting landscapes and one painting ships. See attached painting.

I'll go out on a limb and say......... two completely different artists ....

 

Henry Parker was born in 1938, Norristown, PA. He later moved to Cape May, NJ, where he spent his early years. He then moved to England and studied art near London. In 1958, Parker won an art scholarship to study at the University of Miami’s Lowe Gallery.

The Miami News said of Mr. Parker: “Henry Parker’s paintings… do not glamorize the sea. The artist portrays the sea in some of its most forbidding moods as well as at the most translucently delightful times, when the early sun shines through the mist and strikes the waves, crating an unearthly transparency.” Nellie Bower, Miami News Art Critic.

We're all going on limited information on this one but if by British artist Henry Parker, most of his works are signed Henry H Parker, so without the H most obvious attribution is American artist Henry Parker,but with a caviat ; until we see a picture of the painting we're all in the dark

Yes, new member. Saved the image file as a pdf and it appeared to upload. When I click on the image in my thread it asks if I want to download. When I do it goes to my download file on iPhone and can be viewed. Will try again with suggestions. Thanks much.

Your painting is very formulistic and I suspect it was painted for decorative purposes. In what part of the world did you find it? And what were you told about it? It would be helpful if you also posted a photograph of the back.

Yup, I doubt that Parker , is either of the Parkers I was finding !

Your painting is really nice and involved...... but likely made in a factory.......many times over !
