.........found this odd thing on my travels today (H/C5)

    .........haven't the foggiest

.........if you told me it was old or young i'd be equally surprised

.........like the look of it though and seems pretty convincing for age/wear

    any info appreciated

I googled 'drugs they smoked in meso-America' and, despite the obvious answer 'tobacco,' I found that the Maya also...

"Ritual enemas and other psychoactive substances were also used to induce states of trance."

what is very apparent is other cultures (need and extent) to get mashed up :wacky::woot:

" i know.....try that bright coloured frog instead in it "

my Ai was all over this pipe (and she's usually a right little b.i.t.c.h):playful:

so perhaps Ai's found some way of getting mashed up as well ?

An older souvenir from Peru. The face is inspired by the faces on pre-conquest Moche stirrup vessels from the Peruvian north coast.

A fun piece, not too badly made. And it looks like someone in the UK made good use of it, with whatever they were smoking.;)

These were not sold in museums, they were sold by hawkers on the streets of Peru and near archaeological sites.

Brilliant info, thank you Mrs(yep, still being scottish)...................

    that makes total sense ;)

i guess a bit of aging has muddied the water with it ;)

that face was a sign i guess (that bulbous nose)

also if VERY old:oldman: i think we'd see teethidge (teeth marks)

anyone whos ever used a pipe knows theres a time when one hands searching for the light, and the other hands scratching ones bottom ;):playful:

nothing to do with me Mrs (rumbled)

    :playful:
