Came across this group in researching a piece of porcelain I have with unique Carlsbad marking. This marking was discussed years ago but I am not sure any conclusion was reached as to what exactly it is. CD carlsbad.jpg

As far as I know there is no additional information available on this mark. AI indicates there was a company called Victoria Porcelain Factory that used a single "tusk" mark along with a star. ( I used "Carlsbad porcelain tusk mark" as my search term. Changing to add "double" to the AI search produced a result indicating that it's an unknown mark). It's possible it was a Victoria Porcelain Factory mark, I suppose, but at the present time it's still considered an unknown mark.

Glad to see you made it back. Looking forward to seeing what else you have.

Thanks. That was the post that lead me to this group. This 4 inch vase was part of my mother's collection. She was an antique dealer and operated an antique center in NY in the 70's, 80's and 90's. I have always been curious as to its origin. carlsbadB.jpg carlsbad_A.jpg

Carlsbad is a City in Czech R. There may well have been more than one producer of porcelain that labelled their wares as Carlsbad.

Hi Cliff. What links your vase to the previous Carlsbad item? Does it share the same mark on the base? Can we see the base please? It looks very Royal Worcester to me but I doubt you'd be asking us what it was if it was marked as such.

Edit. Oh the first photo is from your vase, not Mr Dagger's piece. Sorry I get confused easily. Still reminds me of Worcester though.

My RW biscuit barrel for comparison.

It is reminiscent of Royal Worcester because a number of factories, British and European, made wates with the ivory and blush ivory ground. Dating mostly in the last quarter of the 19th c.
