hi folks a continuation of (the odd couple | Antiques Board)

musta been interrupted by tooth/jaw problems

......anyway came across it today (with intentions of sale) and thought.....hmmm i wonder

turns out it tests as gold but unsure of carat (can only test to 9ct)

was gonna sell them together.........and still very much probably will

but guess i better try and find that out first (carat) as could make a big difference i guess

    any thoughts appreciated

I'd guess that dead-eyed stare was part of the length of posing in those days, but it could be a post- mortem portrait ?
Super cool combo Mate ! Would you say those are tintypes or perhaps albumen prints (carte de visite) ? Might remove it from the case to check for the occasionally present scrap of old paper describing the personages.
Good luck though on it being a memento mori- if the sweet young lass happens to be a stiff, your stock price just skyrocketed.
Alas...she is not here for us to take her pulse !
    PS-Happy Halloween All :D

I think she had blue eyes and probably red hair and very fair skin. Add the long exposure stare and...ya gets what ya gets. I think she was alive.

Has the guy twisted in the frame? If that were suspended as a pendant, he would be hanging at an angle. Can he be twisted back to upright?

Just going by other mounts of my acquaintance, mainly for cameos, I would consider the possibility that the frame on this one is gilt brass.

Hi bronwen, yeah he can be twisted around to line up (slightly loose) (twistable)

the testing was VERY conclusive on the frame ;)

No Bro-For marketing purposes you want them to have a tragic backstory, leading to death & an infamous haunting.
Hopefully your objects contain a residual amount of documented activity.
    Halloween huzzahs Mate !
    PS-9 carrots vs 9 carats vs 9 garrotes ?

Dibs on the second one, at least overnight! Unless he's gay . The first dude is not wearing a ring.
