Featured the odd couple

something i bought this week from my house clearance friend who saves me bits and pieces

thought it was an ambrotype because of the case, but its not on glass

the little pendant it came with might be gold i think, signed charlie on the back

he looks like a distinguished vince vaughn, and she looks a bit.....scary

them came together but dont know if they were....together

any ideas of the age by the clothing ?

any thoughts appreciated

 

She looks consumptive,poor thing. And those teeth ! Id guess 1880s give or take.I hope she had a fortune .

I think the photo of her is from the 1890s. Those huge puffy sleeves are a giveaway. Also at that time they did the very curly bangs around the forehead -- although some of that was done in the late 1880s as well -- but not the sleeves. Could even be early 20th century with the sleeves, but then the hair isn't right for that time.

Is her photo on paper, and just put in an older case?
