Featured Necklace with 835 silver clasp

    was sold as a 30s faux pearl necklace. (found with Google Lens, but item is no longer visible on Etsy)

    Is it indeed that old?
    And, based on 835 silver and Metall, German/Austrian?

    'tis a puzzlement. The 835 mark is a silver fineness, but when I see Metall it usually indicates costume. Maybe it's one made of one, and one made of the other.

    Yes it is. A classic Art Deco (faux) pearl clasp.
    German.
    The 1930s was a difficult economic period for Germany, and using a base metal slide in a silver box saved on expenses.
