Hello. My husband and I are at a point in life where we need to scale down. After his Parents passing many years ago, he was too tenderhearted to part with their "treasures". Needless to say, we've had a lot in storage. And THEY had a lot of stuff stored! Now we are tasked with important decisions. I've tried to research some items, but find it mostly tedious. Hoping this site and it's followers can help some. Please!
    How do I get started?
    Thank you all in advance.

Hello, @InAQuandry, and welcome! I suggest you start by telling us what your objective is. Are you hoping to turn the stored items into cash? And, if so, by what means -- such as yard sale, estate sale, auction house, eBay -- do you hope to do that?

Thank you. Anything I inquire about would be for a starting price point. We do plan to sell. Would be using eBay and/or Marketplace.

Welcome, IAQ. We are not appraisers, but what we do all the time is help people who post items here in the various forums because they do not know exactly what it is that they have, & therefore don't know how to go about finding out what an item might be worth. Collectively we have a lot of knowledge, which we are happy to share. More often than not we can help you accurately describe items so you can pursue your own research. Sometimes we find similar items that are sold/for sale, giving an idea of current value.

Member komokwa has given you a link above to help you get started with your first posts. We always need photos; written descriptions alone are never enough.

It sounds to me like you have enough stuff you want to deaccession to consider whether an auction house might be right for some of it, if that option is available to you.

Thank you. I would be happy with "valuable? or dream on!?" And any knowledge sharing will be deeply appreciated.

This is less "ooh pretty" than "ooh crap, now what do we do with it?"

Follow the instructions and show us some pictures.

And can you give us a general idea of the categories of things you have? Are we talking mainly about furniture, for instance?

you'll notice many of our FORUMS , that should accommodate wide selection of items.
If u don't see the right place..... the Antique Forum can serve as a catch all. !!

Welcome-Your strategy of weeding out the gold from the lead's great.
I try to set my Ebay,FB Mkt Place minimum 'Sold' limit at $100 (ideally !). Sometimes if I have several versions of a similar item-I'll group them together in one listing.
PS-A lot of successful selling re these type of 'goodies' have to do with how confident Buyers feel about the economy.
You came to the right place-selling can be a real kick, the nuttiest stuff can go right thru the roof....course other stuff can pancake !

    Welcome @InAQuandry .
I am sure it seems a daunting task now, but we will help you find out what is what, and if it is worth the effort of selling or if we would put it on the 'donation pile'. Looking forward to seeing the 'treasures'.:)

Welcome, and yes, do post some photos of your stuff. It can seem hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it, and posters are here to help.
