I found this square glazed piece of pottery glinting in the sunlight whilst walking the dog today. It was partially buried in the soil of a field . It is glazed on all sides and decorated with sponged blue glaze. I wonder if it some type of gaming piece or toy. Would love to know !!

I wonder if it's kiln furniture from a stoneware kiln.

Could it be a test piece--for testing glazes? Looks like cobalt glaze.

Very nice find, although there may have been some tears when it was lost over a century ago.
