Featured Can anyone read the signature on this oil on canvas?

Image on canvas is 16" x 13" signature in LR.

 

It's hard to trust the writing on the back... for example, how they dropped in a famous name.

But I'd love to get a sharper picture of the face / head / and that shadow behind it, to use in assessing the piece.

Hands too.

In the meantime, it looks promising!

 

So few letters, yet hard to decode.

The three capital letters could be "G B A" or "G B R" ?
Short last name like Reem or Ream?

 

I read G B Hoen, but I could be wrong.
Hoen is a Dutch (Limburg) surname. I can't find a G B Hoen though.

I wonder if that third letter could be a capital A?

Wonder why the dealer identified your painting as French School. Perhaps it's the strong Japanese influence.
