Featured Doggy with an Odd tail

    Hi all - this sausage dog onyx figurine has a rod as a tail. It is not a pencil, any ideas of purpose?

    I found these on a Dutch site

    and they say these are cutlery rests, and that the tail is a pen

    If it has a hole, then it's just missing this
