Bought this Dutch silver needle holder
    Looked like this..
    image8.jpeg
    And now like this

    image2.jpeg
    image1.jpeg image0.jpeg
    With the Dutch sword mark
    image4.jpeg
    And the maker's mark
    image3.jpeg
There seem to be 2 or 3 letters in the mark. Any idea who the maker is(, @Any Jewelry @silvermakersmarks @DragonflyWink )?

I started with polishing, but it was hard to get it cleaned. So this is actually the result of a backing soda + aluminium bath :) During the weekend I will go back to polishing it.

I was surprised to see my phone cam managed to get a good focus on the marks. Usually it manages to get a clear image of everything but the marks

It is a beauty. It is a holder for knitting needles, rather than a needle case (for sewing needles). The clip would be fastened to the waist band of the knitter.

The sword mark is the one for 1814-1905. I can't find the maker, but my guess is the maker is from Friesland or Groningen.
 Generally not advised because it can damage the metal. This mat look is typical of the soda and foil method, but since it was done only once, it should return to its original beautiful silver sheen with a polishing cloth.

    A few like yours:

    One by a Frisian maker:

Turned into a brooch in the 20th century:

The conversion could have been done by Niekerk, who collected traditional jewellery and small silver items related to regional costumes and turned them into jewellery that was more in keeping with 20th century fashions.
