Featured Antique doll Germany Patent pending

Discussion in 'Antique Discussion' started by Tina Jansen 62, Nov 18, 2019.

  1. Judy can you tell me why it I'd a reproduction? Did they also put Patent Appd for on reproductions. Just trying to widen my knowledge base. Sorry for not having the original wording correct. My question is was it the wording or the way the doll looks that would make it a reproduction

Tina, it is possible that the dolls head was produce way back when and it was rejected because of flaws .. it was never factory painted but appears somebody saved it and tried painting it and made a doll out of it, it is still a reproduction as it is certainly not factory fresh ... could you undress her and show us the body please? We are not trying to hurt your feelings but just be honest in what we see using our experience, I wish I could tell you that it was a wonderful original antique but I can't do that ... just love her for herself ..... Joy. :) .. please undress her and show the complete doll.

    Hi Tina........

Your photos don't show enough of the doll. She should be undressed, photos of front and back.

It's possible that the mold is a repro of the original, or it could be that someone badly repainted an original.

Many repros were made from original molds.

However, photos do not lead to this being an original antique china head doll.

Most late antique china head dolls don't have high value. the style of your doll would be considered "late" by the style of her hairdo.

As Joy said, more photos could be helpful.....perhaps the body is an old one.........

Need to run out.....will check in with this thread tomorrow.:cat:

I find the body to be home-made and stuffed with what appears to be cotton wool. If original (100 or so yrs. ago) it would be stuffed with sawdust, or other fine grained elements. the body is quite well made but not original .. In ALL of mt china dolls if that arm was hanging off like that there would be sawdist all over the place ... Joy.

Those are LOVELY and beautifully painted SOS .. THERE ARE SOME BRILLIANT TALENTED ARTISTS OUT THERE THESE DAYS for original new artist dolls. Tina, I know that you would want us to be proven wrong but she is a poorly painted repro doll, not antique. I'm sorry .. I wish it was otherwise .. Joy.

  15. Thank you. So I'm going to assume no value since she sold for $200 in good condition. We will probably put $5 on her at the thrift shop then
