Bought today Came with 90 photos (Belgian, French, German, American) Late 19th/early 20th? And any idea who's in that open carriage? (no info on the card)
That is Mary of Teck who became Queen Mary consort of King George V 1910-1936 mother of Edward VIII + George VI Grandmother to QEII. These were my photographs. I even had that visitor book and her autograph.
Very nice find, Marote. White parasols were fashionable at the time, especially during summer. Dutch Queen Wilhelmina with white parasol (and hubby): The parasol in Marote's picture is the same model, with the rather long flounce. The rather boring building in the background also looks Dutch, or possibly Danish.
Difficult to see who it is, we can't see the lady's face. But in every photograph I've seen of Queen Mary with parasol, she carries a plain white parasol without a flounce or lace, more like an umbrella. Since the lady in the picture has a parasol with long flounce, I think it unlikely that she is Queen Mary. Queen Wilhelmina is a more likely option, since she owned such a parasol.
I was going off Komo's photos, I didn't realise they were not Marote's He threw a spanner in the works
I love the beautiful etched or carved decorations on the wood. Antique pieces like this are so finely made. Very cool!
