At a garage sale today, my wife picked up an old magazine called Virginia Reel. On the inside was an original illustration on the same page as the illustration appears. The seller knew it, and still sold it for $2.

At the flea market a guy had a bunch of garbage photos. This was the only old one and it's autographed by one of them, or their secretary. Either way this is the radio duo of Amos and Andy.

Probably had no idea who they were.

He actually did. He just didn't know they might be collectible. He wanted $10, and I didn't want to pay that. So I walked away. I knew it was worth that. I just didn't want to pay it. I went back later, and I said "I don't who they are..." and he says "Amos and Andy". He then got out his phone to look them up. I didn't want him to see the prices people are asking for photos of them older. So, I just gave him the $10. There's a site that uses all kinds of sponsoring that starts autographed photos at about $350. For me this is a keeper.

Hazel Bux did the illustration. I can't get into the site, but I think she did fashion illustrations for the Philadelphia Enquirer.

    Nice grabs!

I got an autographed pic a few yrs ago for dirt cheap, had no clue who the person was. The sleuths here solved the mystery!

I vaguely recall listening to Amos n' Andy as a child, on an' old Zenith Cathedral table radio my brother an' I had beside our double bed, before I was 8, in the late '40's.
I suppose it was common in those days, but I didn't ever know there were 2 white guys behind the microphones!

I'm a huge old movie fan, and I wouldn't have figured out who that was. This is the first time I'm seeing the name. On imdb she wasn't in much.
I've only seen TV clips. I always knew for most of the Amos and Andy run it was whites in black face. I bought a blu ray set Pioneers of African American Cinema. Oscar Micheaux is considered the father of AA cinema, and his movies were excellent (I own his autograph). The next director highlighted was Spencer Williams, who also starred in his own films, and he was excellent. He also ended up being in Amos and Andy, and supposedly caught a lot of flack for it from the AA community.
