David Alpert was on "Collector's Call" last night. He collects just Dopey items. What was shown was mainly pieces from the 1980s on. I watched hoping to see this planter, but when his shelves of items were shown, I didn't notice anything close. There are a fair amount on selling sites asking anywhere from $15 to $55.

That planter would be cute in a baby's room. I used to have a lot of live plants in my house until I no longer wanted to care for them. Remember Spider plants and Philodendron? And making macramé holders for the pots? I used to do all of that and now it all must be outdoors.

I am an inept outdoor gardener, but houseplants thrive for me. It's a good thing they sell well at my garage sales, or I'd be out of house and home with them.

Are you macrame-ing now or about to start? You should post what you make.

I think I tried macrame in my teens or twenties. Not good at all.
I am not crafty. I think I have a kit here for a macrame belt kit that is vintage.
    Somewhere in my linen closet.

Oh Deb I envy you! I have killed bamboo, cactus, wandering jew, Mexican heather. Even after I was told they are easy, hardy & will thrive, as I was told the lavender plant that was recently given to me by a definitely suffering my non green thumb! It’s a one day craft thing. I am crafty but not artistic.

@NanaB I am sure you will make something nice.

A friend of mine on etsy sells hanging macrame plant holders. They sell fairly well for her.

I believe the biggest problem people have with houseplants is - too much attention. They think they are doing the plant a service by watering every day. The quickest way to kill a plant is over-watering. Most plants can recover from a wilted state. My rule of thumb - stick your finger in the soil. If it even feels even slightly moist - don't water! Of course there are exceptions like the arrowleaf which likes a lot of water. On the other hand, cacti and succulents can go weeks without water. Trial and experience taught me. You can always look up how to care for your individual plants online.

I need to get potting soil, but it's so expensive. I've bought bargain brands and usually end up having to hit the bag with a hammer to break up the clumps. Two years ago it was like trying to plant with concrete.
