lol, How come? To get a little break on forum i am guessing! as i can't prattle on about old furniture when traveling!:hilarious:
Yes, it LOOKS that way to me as well however, photographs lie about furniture, not sure why exactly but details that are easily seen in person often elude the camera.
You see it A LOT in Pennsylvania German furniture during the 18th century. A dowel goes thru that hole into the side of table which also has a hole, it makes the top removable.
I'd guess your table above is more likely German, it has the heavy construction which is typical of german built furniture plus those holes/removable top thingy confirms germanic construction.
BTW, if table base does not have holes, I'd guess a marriage.

LOL, That's what you need to do! Forget about all that other junk on forum! :hilarious:

At the moment i am having trouble with those Doric column legs on that table, they are unusual for american at this time, not an easy ID especially when coupled with those bun william & mary feet.

OK, is going to accept Pennsylvania RELUCTANTLY! If on my visit drawer sides are poplar, it's PA but, built by an englishman! not the usual german, i think that's what was throwing me off. I still want it though!

Kinda killing 2 birds with one stone here......
Look at this table, it shows reverse Doric column legs with W&M bun feet below.
For @Illielee if you notice the "battens" below tabletop, holes tru batten and into table case, making it removable with wood pins/dowels. Typical 18th century German construction.

the top might be later, but holes are through and original. I've found a couple pinned top Italian tables and they seem to have more walnut. euro either way, just something to waste a little time on.

And another, this one has Israel Sack provenance, sold a couple years ago at Pook. This one appears to have it's original wood pins and top seems original as well.

The "Virginia" tavern table that was not from VA :hilarious: with the william & Mary bun feet sold today for $3250. or 4 times it's low estimate (800-1200).
That's a BUNCH for that table in that condition, i let it slide as americana week is coming up. Even without americana week, i wouldn't have paid that much, i was a player until 1k and then i went NITE NITE!
Whoever bought it, nice table but, YOU OVERPAID!:cigar:
