    Hi, also have pair of glass vases probably from Murano Italy, handmade, the same but some small differences, one 29, other 30 inches high. Any idea if they are original? What decade they could be made? On pictures is only one of them.

    Would 'genuine' be a better word to express what you are asking? I do not know, not a glass expert, but will comment that the glass looks very much like agate stone & that may help you search for others that are similar. It is sophisticated glass making, so Murano is a very reasonable guess.

    Murano would not be my first guess on these...maybe Poland? Maybe asian?

    I think these tall vases are sometimes called "funeral vases", maybe that will help in your search?

    'Swung vase' is also a useful search term.

    These are definitely not Murano, The maker would be asked to walk the plank if they were.

    Looks a bit like Mexican stuff from a while back 60's/70's

    Educate us, if you will. I can see the edge of the mouth is rather :meh: What else gives it away?

    Uh huh. Those are the chapter headings. It's fair enough to say that based on having seen lots of genuine Murano glass, this does not match up in ways that are hard to articulate. I have to do it sometimes when explaining, or nonexplaining, why I think a cameo is or isn't stone, is or isn't very old, based on photos provided.

    If the coloring extends to the ribs, if they are not clear, I'd definitely have doubts, but can't tell for sure in pix.

    Tpp ,e the base finish is not consistent with a high end maker. It could be a glass blower with his own shop possibly from the Ozarks using cullett fro big factories.

    The bottom caught my attention but did not know which way it argued. Thanks for the pointer.

    My first thought with that ground base, was Asia.
    @George Nesmith
    Didn't the Ozark glass companies polish their bases?
    I would call it a floor vase.

    I'd be looking at Japan. The reason they aren't Murano is as others have said, including that ground unpolished base.

    They're decorative, so there's certainly value.
