    Limited Edition
Designed & Signed by famous Dutch tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher (also known for the tongue design on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' album Blood Sugar Sex Magik
It wasn't cheap, but probably cheaper and definitely less painful than an actual tattoo :D

I went to a small annual antique faire today, benefiting a small town historical society. Found a matched pair of wool jacquard shawls in a fabric scrap pile for $5 each.

No one recognized those as Victorian Paisley shawls? At a historical society benefit sale!

Offered by a vendor that paid to sell in the town square. The society itself only sells contemporary books on local history in the meeting house. We’ve been going every year on the 4th for the past 8 years and always find great stuff. Last year I got a Jacob Hurd coin silver spoon for $5., goes well with my JH porringer.

Someone was asleep at the switch. My town used to have a historical society, now mostly inactive, that had an annual sale/flea. The lady who ran it would have scoped those in a blind minute, but alas she died and the sale died with her.

That's one of the reasons why I go as much as I can to our local sale. The guy I go to is older and been in the hospital a few times already. Everything will change when he stops doing it.

That's not because we haven't tried to teach them. Video games and social media will out.

Purchased another piece from the same antique dealer who is liquidating his remaining inventory, with delivery in august. Its a serpentine-front chest of drawers veneered in beautifully figured birch and is likely a Scandinavian late Empire / Karl Johan piece from around the 1830s. Its restrained design, clean proportions, and elegant curved façade are characteristic of high-quality Scandinavian craftsmanship from the period. $280.

Isn't that lovely? I don't see knobs though. How does it open?

The designs and fabric are not as delicate as on Paisley shawls or other British shawls.
I think they are German woollen shawls known as "Würzeltuch", which are also Kashmir-inspired, just like the more elegant Paisley shawls.
I have seen and felt both types of shawls and have two Würzeltücher that came down through the family, and there is a difference. Just about every Dutch family owned one or more, they were brought over by German seasonal labourers and even found their way to Dutch regional costumes.

A blog on the 'worteldoek', the Dutch word for Würzeltuch. Text in Dutch only, but there are a few photos:

The prices are also much lower than for Paisley shawls, overhere you can buy them for €12-25, so anund would still make a profit:

On a lot of Continental European furniture you open a drawer or door by pulling the key. So the key doubles as knob. That could be the case with this chest of drawers.
