I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction for this toothpick holder. It was part of a large lot of toothpick holders I bought. The owner had no thoughts on what it might be, it wasn't his collection, he inherited it.

It measures 4-1/4" tall, 2-14" wide and 1-3/4 wide on the foot. There is a mark on the inside of the foot in case anyone recognizes it.

You will see on one side the bottom of his coat there looks like a crack. It looks to me like a manufacturing flaw because it's filled with glaze.

When I did Google image search it came back with somewhat similar items that are Staffordshire pieces. This guy is out of my wheel house so any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Could it be a match holder and the basket weave be the striker?

Thanks Davey, I will research that.

I was wondering why the back of his hat is not painted. It would make sense for a spill vase :)
