Dig peeps- found this freaky Lass at the Junkatorium yesterday for 5 ducats (!!!) but before being hoodwinked by the Squares into parting with a parcel of skins I spied that this diminutive chicks ankles had been snapped off and glued back on-que' tragic !
A Kreiss Psycho Ceramic Bearded Beatnik Chick- w/ a Leslie Caron 'Gigi' reference- frantically scarce man !
This one was so weird I might've actually kept it. Guess I'll eat a few Miltowns and beat my head against my bongos for a few hours !

Saw that Deb-only diff is the pedestal. It's one of the nuttiest MCM Boho things I've ever seen in my life-it could actually be in the 'scarce', maybe even 'rare' categories.I think the one you found had an offering price of $175 (not sure ?). Most Kreiss Psycho Ceramics seem to be $30-$60 ?
The film 'Gigi' came out in '58, and Kreiss must've hatched this kooky concept soon after.
Ah yes indeedy- the agony and the ecstasy of thrifting !

Circa 1958-prime shelf space back in the day would've been San Francisco's Chinatown,Fisherman's Wharf and prob (like u said)- stationary and gift stores. There were no Malls to speak of back then but plenty of 'whatnot' and 'notions' stores.
The thing I gotta a kick out of w/ this piece is it was a sort of contemporary straight Hallmark riposte to the Beat Movement happening at the time. I guess folks in Des Moines or Kansas City would find it a hoot.
