Featured Local new NA basket artist-good !

    Just discovered this in the local Willamette Falls Development Website. It's a pic of a young local tribe member (Siletz), who weaves some beautiful baskets.
    Her names Chantele Rilatos and she was selected as an Indigenous Place Keeping Artist for 2025.
    Some are still making the ancestors (and Us) proud !

    those are some righteous hats !!!!!!
    I hope she documents , or signs them , so they don't get confused with their 19th century forefathers !!

    Ditto-I def wouldn't mind owning a few (at this point I'd be standing in line !).

    Great story. And great picture!

    The weavings in her lap have some connection to No. California styles too. @Taupou has noted before that the Siletz identification is a confederation of several other cultural designations.

    Great traditions to preserve!
