Featured Handmade (?) Shelf?

Hi again. I haven't been able to find anything else online that looks exactly like this 36" / 0.9m long shelf. I liked its proportions.

Is it likely a one-off by a wood-working amateur? Or does it look more accomplished?

Very nice, it looks more accomplished to me but for all I know it might be made by an accomplished amateur. If you're looking to resell it, I think you have a winner. I think if it were me, I would hang it vertically, instead of horizontally like the brackets indicate. So you could put some tall pieces in the middle.

 

Goggle insists it is a bath rack (to put across the bath).

 

To store your rubber duckies in? LOL!!

Yeah, I got the same result. A wood bath rack.... Maybe in a sauna!

 

..the design.....the wood especially ..... looks like it's out of China , or......
I put up 2 shelves in my bathroom.....both from Ikea , & both used haphazard wood parts like this..

it is indeed a bath rack for a larger tub. I had one for my tub because I used to keep my messy cats food on it where he preferred to eat! They come in a variety of shapes, materials & sizes. Mine was custom ordered in 1996, from where I don't remember.

 

It does have sawtooth hangers indicating someone meant it to be hung.

I noticed those as well. Secondary use? Who knows.

 

Some people hang a bath rack when it isn't in use.
Wood and bamboo bath racks look decorative anyway, so they can be used as home decor as well.

 

The length is right.
