Featured Help me Find A Lid! Galt Sterling & Porcelain Teapot

I purchased a bulk (30+) lot of Hall teapots the other day at a local auction. When I got home and looked things over, I discovered this little gem hiding among the other teapots. However, it has no lid Very unique sterling overlay held down & secured by chains. Made by Galt & Brothers. I am hoping someone can identify the unmarked teapot and help me find a maker.

Dunno about finding a lid...that'd be a minor miracle.
Would Galt have comissioned the pot...or would they have just been commissioned to do the silver by the potter?

 

The 'very unique' silver overlay on the one side looks to me like it should be a monogram, although I can't make it out. The shield shape on the other side probably meant for engraving. Wedding gift?

 

Hah...I can't, often, even make out the ones that are only 2 or 3 initials! That one looks like quite a few more than that. Wonder what it says? A polishing would make the task a bit easier, methinks.

The lids shown in the two examples are different. The Facebook example looks like it belongs more than the other, to my eye, but I don't know.

My thinking is that you may be able to find a usable brown betty lid even if you don't find the proper one. One never knows.

@say_it_slowly. that's what I was thinking but I wonder if the finial would be capped in silver on the original?
