Featured Aubrey Beardsley-print

Hi all,this was easy to identify. Any thoughts on the age of this print? Frame looks 80’s or 90’s to me,is that also probably the age of the print? Any way to tell? It’s about 14,5 x 19cm. Anyway is a interesting image and nicely framed and was only about $3 so that’s cool.

...90's.... that's the cheapest frame they made...... the size of the image might be a guide as to it's age..?

That's very cool. It's incredible that was drawn in 1894. I would imagine that turned quite a few heads at the end of the 19th century.

When I first saw this, I thought of Fantazius Mallare by Ben Hecht and illustrated by Wallace Smith, who was jailed for obscenity. This reminds me of those illustrations. The book is fantastic. Though I had to keep a dictionary close. Hecht was a writer's writer.

I had no idea those were cheap frames. I personally don't like them, they're a pain in the butt to take apart (for me). But, they are sturdy.

 

sturdy, yes.....I still have a dozen or more to take apart......and it's such a bother that they've sat there for.............over 20 years..
