Looks a bit like an Aide Memoire but unusually there’s no place for a pencil.

I’ve usually seen them with a place for a pencil as it wouldn’t be much use if you didn’t have a pencil on you.

It may have had a pencil attached by a chain on the top ring but most had a place where the pencil slotted in.

Maybe it had a pencil on a chain, attached to the ring.

Dumb question but can it be refilled? It’s so big in my opinion to hang on a chatelaine.
Almost 3” x 2”. I got a sterling, antique pencil in the lot but they don’t go together

Think a dance card would have hung from the wrist. What material are the 2 leaves that are not parts of the cover made of? I don't know much about these, but thought they once had ivory 'pages', later some faux ivory, such as Celluloid, so that writing could be erased & pages used again. Odd juxtaposition of summery images on the outside and La Patineuse on the inside.

Ditto Bronwen regarding construction and composition of pages.
A jeweler might be to disassemble and reassemble it.
This looks like silverplate, any markings ?
PS- A full on mint Chatelaine w/ 7 or 8 tools hanging from it made by Tiffany might be worth several grand (maybe ?).

You know... That leaf with skater isn't even trimmed the same as the cover. The edges are slightly rounded which the cover's are slightly squared.

I think the inside is some type of paper. I’ll have to check and get back to you

Keeping a good attitude IMHO is the best way to approach Picking, that optimistic attitude'll keep you going-wondering what treasure's just about to jump out.
