Just sitting around and wondered just how many folks who frequent this board have quality framed prints of masters on their walls. Most, if not any would be able to afford the originals.
I have Three hanging in place of pride in my home: Vermeer, Girl With the Pearl Earing (larger than the original in a very ornate frame), Klimt, The Kiss (vintage, ornate gold leaf leaf print and gilt frame) and Van Gogh, Roses and Anemone also in an ornate frame.
I have them because they are wonderful works of art, not for any other value at all. I just love to look at them.
    What do you have?

Years ago, a family friend painted a copy of Alfred Sisley's "Village on the Banks of the Seine" for me. He was a Russian immigrant who was a very talented artist and sculptor. I love it and hope my kids don't sell it at a yard sale for $10 when I'm gone!
I also have prints of Early American children's portraits. I always wanted to own an original. IMG_7524.jpeg

I have this one in the den, Gustav Klimt, Beethoven Frieze: This Kiss to the Whole World. DH and I found it already framed in a small store of prints etc. years ago. I've loved looking at it and still love looking at it. Just took the photo so there is glare and reflection, but you get the drift.

We have a print of Edward Hopper's "Early Sunday Morning." I love the whimsical barber's pole in the otherwise lonely composition.

    Relocated from turtle whistle/rattle thread:

I have a yellowed framed print of this on my living room wall because it belonged to my maternal grandmother. My mother had no memory of its ever being hung in their home, & I think we found it in her "hope" chest, so probably something she had before her marriage. The title is Isabella, or the Pot of Basil, drawing on a poem by John Keats, which in turn draws from the Decameron. The print is much smaller than the original.

It's a gruesome tale. Her murdered lover's head is in the pot. :nailbiting:

Not sure Alexander qualifies as a master. She's accompanied by a copy of a work that is by a master, but it's a painted copy, not a print, & Guido Reni is most definitely not modern.

As some of you know I admire Eliza Gilbert, aka Lola Montez. So when I came across this miniature of Lola for a bargain price, I had to have it.
It is painted after a well known portrait by Joseph Karl Stieler, made for Ludwig I of Bavaria's "Gallerie of Beauties".
This miniature is one of a series, painted some time in the 20th century. There are probably more of her, but this one is mine.:)

The glare on the glass couldn't be avoided, it was that or reflections of either my face, fone or fingers.

Speaking of Edward Hopper, my friend made a copy of "Nighthhawks" and added my parents to the painting. With computers these days, anything is possible.
