Featured Bookplates; Too Many For Pics, Most Risqué

I just came across them, buried among other long-forgotten goodies. Are there any of y'all that dabble in such? Might there be a dedicated forum for them...tho' not on FB?
I'll take a few pics as examples, choosing carefully so as not to offer offense to sensitive eyes.
They are almost all Hungarian, an' predominately from Doctors, apparently from the late '80s. These 8 pics are curated against prurience, an are perhaps a third to half of the total number.

Cool graphics! So dramatic. Some have the vibe of those over-the-top Communist aesthetics.

Some also remind me a bit of Oaxacan block print art I've seen.

There are more, but their content, though not raunchy, may be out of place here. I'm hesitant to risk any offense.

 

Whit- Congrats- your endless labyrinth of curious detritus has yielded a gem ! Some of these are absolutely superb and signed,and all seem to be done by accomplished artists.
Do you suppose these were offered as a limited edition portfolio, or one at a rime ?
Bookplate collectors are a select but avid group.
Maybe @2manybooks or @Ex Libris could help. Perhaps @Any Jewelry might recommend a few more bibliophiles or graphics people ?

 

I just want to point out that in many countries, including Hungary, the title "doctor" has traditionally been used in a number of professions, not just medical.

True. Usually those doctors are academics in any academic field, but not always. In some countries it is also honorific without any qualifications.

I would appreciate having a Moderator or others chime in about what is or is not acceptable in the way of posting images of these bookplates. As mentioned, none are obscene or raunchy...the issue is female frontal nudity, without 'prurient' intent by the various artists. Thanks!

Ooooooh, I love bookplates, thanks for sharing them.
One of my little joys is buying an old book and finding a previous owner's bookplate inside. I've often thought of collecting them but it is a small, and often expensive, niche area.
I've also often thought of having my own bookplate designed.
Please do post more!
