Featured What is this odd 1/2 doll w/ fringe?

Hello all. I bought this odd little 1/2 doll at the TS today. Altogether it is just over 1 foot long. 5" for the porcelain doll part and 7 inches of fringe. It has a tassel on either side and one on the head. I have seen the pin cushion 1/2 dolls. But this I don't think would work for that. I also thought of a fan pull, but there is nothing to attach her with. She is well done and very detailed with a necklace, (loose) and a beaded flapper headpiece. (attached but separate). On the inside there is some sort of coiled up plastic(?). I see nowhere to attach her to anything. Any information or input is welcome. I'm stumped on this one.

Quick search lead to Tassel Doll. Seem they could be set on a stand. Take a look. I saw lots of examples.

 

I don't remember ever seeing one of those before. Certainly look 1970s.

She's very cute! Some that I saw had loops on the head to hang from a Christmas Tree. Looks like they're just for fun and decor.

 

Would she sit on the top of the handle of a toilet plunger? Might as well put her to work. Would also make a b*tchin' cat toy.

Thank you all! I have never heard or seen a Tassel Doll before. From what I can see.....she needs some sort of stand. The inside part looks kind of funkey to me. I thought maybe it was something rolled up and stuck in there (Treasure map maybe?) lol.

Same here. This one looks like the body came out of a 3D printer. I was wondering how they were made. The internet had instructions on how to make your own, but I didn't read any of them.

 

Could that bottom part be a lamp finial?

 

The attached photo is one from an upcoming tag sale this weekend. Look at the upper right corner. Do you think those 1/2 dolls could be made into tassel dolls? I might go to this sale but I know it will be crowded, with a capital C.

 

No, they're off of pin cushions. Those tassel dolls don't look older than the 1970s.

I agree that they are pin cushion dolls. You can see on the far right doll that it has holes around the bottom to attach to a pin cushion.

I don't think so. I don't see anyway to attach it. Looking at the inside of mine, makes me wonder if it could indeed be 3D printed.

 

@Debora That pin cushion doll is so sweet! If there were ever feet on these at the sale, they don't appear to be in the box.

I saw the little holes but was just thinking could I glue a dress with tassels on the form. I think I'd rather have a pin cushion.
